VW Show

On saturday I went to a VW show near where I live. We went to the same one last year which was so much fun, and this year we got to showcase our beautiful new campervan, Guinevere. She's a green bay with poppies and a green and while polka dot theme, and yes, we do refer to her as a she. I spent so so long on the poppy transfers and we're very pleased with how they came out.

I bought two bracelets, one with two dolphins and a green beaded one my boyfriend bought for me, as well as this hat. I've been looking for a hat like it for a while now, and though I am signing myself as hippy chick of the year nominee wearing it, I thought it was too cute not to get.

They always have some of the most amazing cars in the Show & Shine competition and just around generally. From comic book themed dashboard and roof, a doodle bug, grass as flooring or 70's throwback there's literally everything. I imagine doing up and decorating old campervans is one of the most fulfilling hobbies ever, granted a very expensive hobby, but I suppose if you've got the skills you could be able to do it all on the cheap. The outcome of people's hard work always looks phenomenal, and so personal.

Some vans you really felt like you could live in, and what a lovely way to live it would be once you got used to the close quarters. My boyfriend's brother and his girlfriend are considering staying in one until she graduates so they don't have to pay extortionate amounts on rent, which sounds practical and adorable. Maybe one day we'll enter Guinevere in the Show & Shine, it looks like a lot of fun.

I think I could easily embrace the campervan lifestyle. People sell their art or merchandise out the back of them. Might not make you a millionaire but it must be such a great chilled out way to live, and for someone like me who's not exactly laid-back, seeing the appeal is easy.

Hope you're all enjoying the nice weather in England, let's see how long that lasts. Have a great day all!

Dedham

The day after my final exam we went to Dedham to celebrate. It's such a beautiful little english town. although I couldn't walk around without having the Midsomer Murders music going round my head, in fact I think they even used it as the setting for an episode.

We sat outside after looking round the beautiful shops that sold so many beautiful hand-made items and jewellery. I came here last year after my AS exams, and I had so much fun, but it was even more special this time round since I'd finished my A2 exams, which is a pretty big deal I think. Next stop, university! Before we went anywhere we got breakfast is this wooden, creaky teashop which was adorable and had the best decorations. In particular some patriotic bunting in celebration of the Jubilee.

There's also a beautiful church in Dedham. Last year there was a wedding going on so we didn't get to go inside, so this year I took full advantage and took so many photos. The stained-glass windows were lovely, and they had the badges of the families on the ceiling. I'm not particularly religious, but I am a traditionalist, and could you imagine walking down in the snow to church on Christmas Eve? So lovely!

After looking round Dedham we then finally went on to a nearby hotel (which was swank-y!) and had afternoon tea. I'm hardly an afternoon tea aficionado, but I have had it about 3 times before in various places close to where I live, but this afternoon tea was by far the nicest. I won't go on about it much since the pictures speak for themselves really, but let's just say they tasted even better than they look.

So all in all a perfect end to the stress of exams. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summer. And for those who still have exams/are still in school, there's only a little while left now!

Hello There

My last A Level exam was last thursday, marking it as the last aspect of 'schooling' I will ever have to do, which needless to say felt pretty surreal. I do want to attend university in September, but that'll be so different to secondary school education I don't suppose I can really compare the too. Whilst I wait anxiously to see whether I achieved the grades necessary to get into my first choice, I have a long expanse of summer, with plenty of 'keep me busy so I don't become a nervous wreck' opportunities. One of those opportunities is of course, a blog! (Ah see, I did get to the point eventually).

I'm not unfamiliar to the blogging world. I did have a domain site for several years, well since 2006 to be exact, after becoming interested in web and graphic design. Unfortunately blogging pretty much took a back-seat this last year because of school work, and currently my domain site is being used for my school's new website, since as part of my coursework I was asked to re-design the website and needed a test site and well, I already had the domain. Anyway, that means that I'm taking up residence here on blogspot (or rather blogger as it seems to now be known), so that I can have the benefits and fun of blogging without paying for a new site or even having to go to the trouble of coding a new layout, which though I enjoy, I'd much rather concentrate on the blogging aspect.

So that's what colour-burn is all about for now, pretty frivolous, lovely things which I will hopefully be filling my days. I'm hoping to be able to have DIY's up, maybe some dorm decorating tips for anyone else who'll be moving into student accommodation soon - that is if I can think of any tips - and a visual diary of things in my everyday life that I reckon people might find interesting, or at the very least, might lead to some pretty pictures being taken.

Over the next little while my aim for this blog is to be the perfect sit-back-with-a-cup-of-tea location on the web!
